Technology Project Title:

Project Focus: Slam poetry as identity construction and maintenance.

Technology Project Type: A website curating and analyzing slam poetry media around contested and marginalized identities in an effort to promote empathy, understanding, and tolerance.

Technology Project Components: Background information; curated sections of slam poetry media constructing contested identities around controversial social issues (immigration, race, gender, LGBT, etc.); a resource section for response.

Technology Project Background Information: While I have researched issues of identity previously, particularly in second language learning, this background study will include research on the composition and performance of slam poetry, how such a medium allows for the construction of identities contested in public space, and the dynamics of audience response in a call for social change.

June 21—Develop basic website structure and aesthetic, begin adding identity sections.
